The Room is Dark

The room is dark. As you look around, all you see is a red light glowing in the corner.

The participants are sitting in a circle. They are feeling the excitement and energy as it begins to rise. At this point they are asked to sing in order to raise the energy higher in hopes that many from the spirit world come through.

There is a figure, called the medium in the middle of the circle. This medium then tells you to take three deep breaths and let go of your day. She asks everyone to listen to the prayer that is being channeled by her spirit guide. Her voice changes as she quietly says her prayer of protection and it resonates deeply with love and concern. The spirit guide assists the medium with her spiritual work and he is aware of everyone who sits in the circle. He will speak to friends and family of the participants who have left this world and now live on the other side and will bring there messages to the members in the circle.

Where are we, you might ask? What are we doing? We are holding a séance and it is being held in a dark room with a lamp that generates a soft red glow.

What is a séance? What does it mean and how can you benefit from it?

Séance is an attempt to communicate with your dearly departed love ones. It is a form of mediumship in which one or more dedicated people communicate with entities on another frequency. This is done with the help of a spirit medium who goes into a trance and theoretically allows the deceased to communicate through him or her.

The history of séance communication can be traced back to the third century.  The word séance comes from the French word for ‘seat,’ from Old French seoir, ‘to sit.’ In English, the word came to be used specifically for a meeting of people to receive spiritualistic messages.

Séances are typically conducted in dark or semi-dark rooms with participants seated in a circle formation in which a medium would speak under the apparent control of a spirit, relaying messages from the dearly departed. It can also be held in the light but dark is preferred because of the raising and lowering of the vibrations made by both worlds. We must understand that the medium is a channel for such communication. Not everyone has the right chemistry to become a medium and it takes much practice and patience to become a good one. Mediumship is not necessarily a supernatural endowment: it can be as natural as the gift of music or art, but certain gifts and graces are more developed in some mediums rather then in others.

Those who have passed on have never really died. They have changed from one plane of life to another. They come to communicate and guide us because of the Law of Attraction which is the governing law of nature. The spirit world also comes to help and protect us. They try to help us live on this earth so we can develop and gain the experience we need. When they come through to speak it is with love and concern. Séance can bring forth personal messages from spirit to the participants – messages of hope, comfort and meaning. Sometimes there is unfinished business that needs closure so spirit will try to relay that message. Messages are given in words, symbols, and feelings which bring memories and clarity to certain situations. When those messages are given to individuals in that circle it should be understood that all present must be open to receive.

When I conduct a séance, it is more often for personal messages channeled from my spirit guide Blue Feather, or from others in spirit who wish to convey memories and information to that evening’s participants. But séances can also be held to offer predictions about world events, healing sessions, dissertations, and physical manifestations – whatever the specialty is of the medium holding the séance.

My séance specialty is trance channeling; I have studied for twenty five years at various colleges and training facilities in Florida, Indiana and England. I’m a certified spirit medium and I have been trained to see symbols, hear spirit, and feel emotions. This is considered clairvoyant, clairaudience, and clairsentience.

During a séance, many things can happen, so it’s good to have a trained medium who understands what’s going on.

Normal procedure after a séance the medium should forget what transpired in messages that evening. I usually have dreams that night to which I release all that came to me in that séance but sometimes unique symbols manage to stay. I would like to share with you two incidences that I have not forgotten. I was able to see just the trunk of a car which really surprised me. I could have understood had it been the whole car but this was just the trunk. I asked the individual to whom I was relaying messages to what did that mean to her?  She laughed and explained that she conducted business out of the trunk of her car. It was easier for her that way then taking it into the house. The other incident believe it or not I saw a set of false teeth shown by the grandfather of the individual I was speaking with.  The memory of that story is that the grandfather use to take his teeth out and clean them in the kitchen just to tease the grandchildren.

Spirit has a beautiful sense of humor and they try hard to display it in séances. I create as much humor as possible but I also present a serious side so that all present will understand what is being expressed in words and memories. The other that I would like for you to know is that I love and enjoy what I do.

How Do I Tell My First Grandchild That I’m a Spirit Medium?

Joshua Isaac – (b) October 13, 2008 – 11:45 am – Malica, Spain

These thoughts were written prior to October 13, 2008 – The birth of Joshua Isaac

As I sit here and ponder what is about to happen, I smile.

My first grandchild, who happens to be a boy, is on the wayand I am amazed and overwhelmed. I used to tease my children, telling them not to have babies too early because it would ruin my youthful image… but now that this one is so close to arriving, my image doesn’t seem to matter anymore. I have many thoughts going through my head at this time, but one that jumps out is, how do you tell your grandson that you are a spirit medium?

How do you explain that you talk to “the other side” – to spirits and dearly departed family, friends and guides? When Iwas a child my grandmother always spoke about spirits and what happens when people pass over. She explained that our souls roam for three days after death, which could explain why people experience visions of loved ones shortly after their passing. This is usually followed by an adjustment period, a time of rest and recuperation, because leaving our loved ones on earth can be difficult.

Mama said we could see spirits and even hear or smell them. If you have ever experienced a fragrance that you associated with someone when they were alive on earth – and couldn’t detect the source of the smell – consider that it might be a relative in spirit attempting to make contact. Maybe you have heard a knock on the door or the windows rattling, for no apparent reason. That could be their way of letting you know that they are doing well and you need not worry. My grandmother always spoke to me with a gentle voice, and never once did I hear fear in what she was saying.

The world contains many cultures and religions – each of which holds strong, heartfelt beliefs. Not everyone believes in spiritualism and I’m sure many people actually fear the spirit world. As I grew older, I realized that family and cultural environment have much to do with how we see and feel. I’m sure that the way my grandmother spoke and presented the spirit world to me had a lot to do with how I accept it myself today. I also realize there is a drive in me to learn as much as possible about this “unseen” world.

My grandmother continues to advise me from the spirit world, the same as she guided me while alive. For example, in meditation many years ago, I asked my grandmother a question. By that time, she had crossed over and was a spirit herself. I could see her so clearly and to this day I have not forgotten. I wanted to know if my children would give me grandchildren when they were older and she told me that my daughter Maiteland would be the only one of my three kids who would have children. And she was right, even all those years ago. My sons, both of whom are now past forty have not had children and I feel they probably never will. My daughter Maiteland will shortly deliver her first child – my first grandchild.

And to answer my question “How do I tell my grandson that I am a spirit medium?” – I will do as my grandmother did. I will speak with a gentle voice and present him with many positive stories and good experiences so that he, too, will have no fears about the world of spirit.      – Reverend Janet M. Everyone Has Psychic Powers! What They Are and Where They Are From

Do you have psychic powers? If you think the answer is no…

Think again.

The truth is, everyone has psychic powers.  Believe it or not, every human has within him or her the ability to use psychic energy and take advantage of psychic energy for creative purposes.  Even children have these abilities.  The problem is that we don’t realize that we possess this potential – and therefore, it never gets used by most of us.

Before we explore that, though, let’s talk about what this psychic energy is and where it comes from – so you can understand the hidden potential you possess.

What are Psychic Powers?

When most people hear the phrase “psychic power,” they tend to envision some magical force found in movies and comic books.  You know: People flying through the air, lifting heavy objects with their minds, etc.

The truth is that psychic powers are more nuanced and varied.  (This is why we frequently do not know we have them.)

For example, have you ever felt like you have an innate knowledge of something – a natural grasp of something that you just couldn’t explain? Maybe you seem to just know how someone is feeling without talking to them.  Or perhaps you can locate hidden objects with ease, or sense the presence of other beings.

There are a variety of psychic powers that depend on the innate spiritual power of a human being, and all of them can be harnessed and wielded by their owners – if the owners are aware of them, of course! But what is the origin of these powers?

The Power Within

The origin of psychic powers in a human being rests in one mysterious yet powerful concept.

The human soul.

Humans are spiritual beings. We possess great amounts of spiritual energy within our bodies and souls, the energy that forms a common bond between all living things.  Our souls are the centers of our presence here in the universe, and it is the soul that gives us our psychic potential.

Of course, taking advantage of psychic potential means you have to first acknowledge it.  But, you also have to put yourself in the right mindset so you can achieve the power within you.

The first step is to be positive. Positive attracts positive; if you want positive results, you have to have the right attitude.  You will never achieve your full potential – psychic or otherwise – if you are not positive.

The next step is to relax and focus on who you are.  Focus on what makes you, you.  Try to eliminate stress in your life as much as possible.  Stress interferes with psychic channeling and denies you the ability to use your gift.

The more you focus on your abilities and pay attention to yourself and your soul, the more likely you are to identify your innate talent and learn how to start using it.

Throughout the process, though, remember that you, as a child of the universe, are a spiritual being and have spiritual capabilities within you.  Hold on to that thought.  Take hold of your capacity and capability, and focus on the positive.  You have psychic powers; now you just learn how to use them!

How Insight from a Medium Can Clear Up a Situation in Your Work World

If you have a problem with your work environment – say, with a co-worker, a boss, or perhaps a difficult project – you are not alone.  People experience problems on a daily basis at work, ranging from simple matters to complex situations involving people that can be incredibly stressful.  This stress is harmful to your health, which means resolving these situations is a priority.  A medium can actually help you clear up such a situation in your work world through careful insight.

A medium is a person with special spiritual gifts of communication and connection with the spiritual world, a connection that gives the medium special insight into what most other people do not see or detect or understand.  This insight can range from relatively-simple visions to more complicated communications with spirits in another plane of existence.  In all cases, the medium’s talent of communication and channeling can help you with problems you have at work.

Imagine that you have a problem with a co-worker.  There may be a misunderstanding between you two – or he or she may be purposely interfering with you and causing this strife.  By visiting a medium, you can discover the truth of the situation and gain valuable insight into what is occurring to cause this disruption in your life.  If there’s a misunderstanding, for example, a medium could reveal to you the nature of this misunderstanding.  It is likely that neither you nor your co-worker were aware of the true nature of the misunderstanding.

With the insight provided by a medium, you can clear up troublesome situations in your work world and make your work environment a place of peace and harmony.  This alone makes a trip to see a medium about your work situation worthwhile.

How Meditation Plays a Big Part in Being a Medium

A medium – a person connected intimately to the spiritual world who communicates with spirits in the beyond – has at his or her disposal a wide variety of skills and techniques that can be described as nothing short of amazing.  All of these skills depend heavily on the ability of the medium to focus, concentrate, and channel the spiritual energies that surround the medium and harness them for communication.  One of the ways a medium accomplishes this mindset – and a very important tool for a medium – is meditation.

What is meditation? Many people, if asked, would say they know what meditation is – and would describe it as something you have to do while sitting in an awkward yoga pose.  Meditation, at its core, is something simpler than that.  All meditation is, after all, is focusing deeply and intently on clearing your mind and putting it at ease.  Some people, when they meditate, clear their minds completely and do not think about anything.  Others focus on one thought or topic.  Both ways train the mind to reach a heightened state of focus so that it can then do something incredible: talk to the dead.

A medium, as mentioned, specializes in communicating with spirits.  This requires an enormous amount of concentration on and connection with the spiritual world.  Without this connection, a link with the spirits cannot be made. Therefore, meditation plays a major role in what a medium does.  Without regular, intensive meditation, a medium will not possess the ability to focus on communicating with a spirit and relaying messages from the other side.

In summary, meditation is a tool that is used by mediums to hone their mind and sharpen their focus, so that they can more effectively bridge the gap between this world and the next and communicate.

Medium and Psychic: What are the Differences?

Many are unaware of the true different between a medium and a psychic. Frequently, people assume psychics are mediums and vice versa; however, despite this common belief, these two words are not interchangeable. Throughout this article, we will briefly examine the difference between these two terms and talk about what each one means.

We will start by addressing the term that’s familiar with most people—psychic. The term “psychic” refers to the ability to sense and perceive things that others are unable to detect. Psychics have extrasensory perception, also known as ESP.  This extrasensory perception is often referred to as the sixth sense—an addition to hearing, seeing, touching, tasting, and smelling. Therefore, psychics have the sixth sense that others lack, giving them an ability to perceive things outside of a normal person’s ability. Psychics use this extra sensory perception ability in a variety of skills, techniques, and practices, including foretelling the future.

On the other hand, a medium specifically refers to a person that communicates with those that are no longer living—the dead. These individuals communicate with spirits in the afterlife. The term “medium” comes from the person’s ability to foster communication between the spirits and the living. Spirits can refer to the deceased, angels, and even demons. Furthermore, there are some instances in which the spirit is given permission to take over and speak or write through the body of the medium.

Psychics and mediums are similar in that they both function in an altered state and feature abilities that involve the supernatural aspect of the human mind and spirit. Furthermore, both have an extra sense that allows them to go beyond normal functioning. However, despite these similarities these two words are not interchangeable and refer to two different areas and occupations.
