The Room is Dark

The room is dark. As you look around, all you see is a red light glowing in the corner.

The participants are sitting in a circle. They are feeling the excitement and energy as it begins to rise. At this point they are asked to sing in order to raise the energy higher in hopes that many from the spirit world come through.

There is a figure, called the medium in the middle of the circle. This medium then tells you to take three deep breaths and let go of your day. She asks everyone to listen to the prayer that is being channeled by her spirit guide. Her voice changes as she quietly says her prayer of protection and it resonates deeply with love and concern. The spirit guide assists the medium with her spiritual work and he is aware of everyone who sits in the circle. He will speak to friends and family of the participants who have left this world and now live on the other side and will bring there messages to the members in the circle.

Where are we, you might ask? What are we doing? We are holding a séance and it is being held in a dark room with a lamp that generates a soft red glow.

What is a séance? What does it mean and how can you benefit from it?

Séance is an attempt to communicate with your dearly departed love ones. It is a form of mediumship in which one or more dedicated people communicate with entities on another frequency. This is done with the help of a spirit medium who goes into a trance and theoretically allows the deceased to communicate through him or her.

The history of séance communication can be traced back to the third century.  The word séance comes from the French word for ‘seat,’ from Old French seoir, ‘to sit.’ In English, the word came to be used specifically for a meeting of people to receive spiritualistic messages.

Séances are typically conducted in dark or semi-dark rooms with participants seated in a circle formation in which a medium would speak under the apparent control of a spirit, relaying messages from the dearly departed. It can also be held in the light but dark is preferred because of the raising and lowering of the vibrations made by both worlds. We must understand that the medium is a channel for such communication. Not everyone has the right chemistry to become a medium and it takes much practice and patience to become a good one. Mediumship is not necessarily a supernatural endowment: it can be as natural as the gift of music or art, but certain gifts and graces are more developed in some mediums rather then in others.

Those who have passed on have never really died. They have changed from one plane of life to another. They come to communicate and guide us because of the Law of Attraction which is the governing law of nature. The spirit world also comes to help and protect us. They try to help us live on this earth so we can develop and gain the experience we need. When they come through to speak it is with love and concern. Séance can bring forth personal messages from spirit to the participants – messages of hope, comfort and meaning. Sometimes there is unfinished business that needs closure so spirit will try to relay that message. Messages are given in words, symbols, and feelings which bring memories and clarity to certain situations. When those messages are given to individuals in that circle it should be understood that all present must be open to receive.

When I conduct a séance, it is more often for personal messages channeled from my spirit guide Blue Feather, or from others in spirit who wish to convey memories and information to that evening’s participants. But séances can also be held to offer predictions about world events, healing sessions, dissertations, and physical manifestations – whatever the specialty is of the medium holding the séance.

My séance specialty is trance channeling; I have studied for twenty five years at various colleges and training facilities in Florida, Indiana and England. I’m a certified spirit medium and I have been trained to see symbols, hear spirit, and feel emotions. This is considered clairvoyant, clairaudience, and clairsentience.

During a séance, many things can happen, so it’s good to have a trained medium who understands what’s going on.

Normal procedure after a séance the medium should forget what transpired in messages that evening. I usually have dreams that night to which I release all that came to me in that séance but sometimes unique symbols manage to stay. I would like to share with you two incidences that I have not forgotten. I was able to see just the trunk of a car which really surprised me. I could have understood had it been the whole car but this was just the trunk. I asked the individual to whom I was relaying messages to what did that mean to her?  She laughed and explained that she conducted business out of the trunk of her car. It was easier for her that way then taking it into the house. The other incident believe it or not I saw a set of false teeth shown by the grandfather of the individual I was speaking with.  The memory of that story is that the grandfather use to take his teeth out and clean them in the kitchen just to tease the grandchildren.

Spirit has a beautiful sense of humor and they try hard to display it in séances. I create as much humor as possible but I also present a serious side so that all present will understand what is being expressed in words and memories. The other that I would like for you to know is that I love and enjoy what I do.

How Do I Tell My First Grandchild That I’m a Spirit Medium?

Joshua Isaac - (b) October 13, 2008 - 11:45 am - Malica, Spain
Joshua Isaac – (b) October 13, 2008 – 11:45 am – Malica, Spain

These thoughts were written prior to October 13, 2008 – The birth of Joshua Isaac

As I sit here and ponder what is about to happen, I smile.

My first grandchild, who happens to be a boy, is on the wayand I am amazed and overwhelmed. I used to tease my children, telling them not to have babies too early because it would ruin my youthful image… but now that this one is so close to arriving, my image doesn’t seem to matter anymore. I have many thoughts going through my head at this time, but one that jumps out is, how do you tell your grandson that you are a spirit medium?

How do you explain that you talk to “the other side” – to spirits and dearly departed family, friends and guides? When Iwas a child my grandmother always spoke about spirits and what happens when people pass over. She explained that our souls roam for three days after death, which could explain why people experience visions of loved ones shortly after their passing. This is usually followed by an adjustment period, a time of rest and recuperation, because leaving our loved ones on earth can be difficult.

Mama said we could see spirits and even hear or smell them. If you have ever experienced a fragrance that you associated with someone when they were alive on earth – and couldn’t detect the source of the smell – consider that it might be a relative in spirit attempting to make contact. Maybe you have heard a knock on the door or the windows rattling, for no apparent reason. That could be their way of letting you know that they are doing well and you need not worry. My grandmother always spoke to me with a gentle voice, and never once did I hear fear in what she was saying.

The world contains many cultures and religions – each of which holds strong, heartfelt beliefs. Not everyone believes in spiritualism and I’m sure many people actually fear the spirit world. As I grew older, I realized that family and cultural environment have much to do with how we see and feel. I’m sure that the way my grandmother spoke and presented the spirit world to me had a lot to do with how I accept it myself today. I also realize there is a drive in me to learn as much as possible about this “unseen” world.

My grandmother continues to advise me from the spirit world, the same as she guided me while alive. For example, in meditation many years ago, I asked my grandmother a question. By that time, she had crossed over and was a spirit herself. I could see her so clearly and to this day I have not forgotten. I wanted to know if my children would give me grandchildren when they were older and she told me that my daughter Maiteland would be the only one of my three kids who would have children. And she was right, even all those years ago. My sons, both of whom are now past forty have not had children and I feel they probably never will. My daughter Maiteland will shortly deliver her first child – my first grandchild.

And to answer my question “How do I tell my grandson that I am a spirit medium?” – I will do as my grandmother did. I will speak with a gentle voice and present him with many positive stories and good experiences so that he, too, will have no fears about the world of spirit.      – Reverend Janet M. Everyone Has Psychic Powers! What They Are and Where They Are From

Do you have psychic powers? If you think the answer is no…

Think again.

The truth is, everyone has psychic powers.  Believe it or not, every human has within him or her the ability to use psychic energy and take advantage of psychic energy for creative purposes.  Even children have these abilities.  The problem is that we don’t realize that we possess this potential – and therefore, it never gets used by most of us.

Before we explore that, though, let’s talk about what this psychic energy is and where it comes from – so you can understand the hidden potential you possess.

What are Psychic Powers?

When most people hear the phrase “psychic power,” they tend to envision some magical force found in movies and comic books.  You know: People flying through the air, lifting heavy objects with their minds, etc.

The truth is that psychic powers are more nuanced and varied.  (This is why we frequently do not know we have them.)

For example, have you ever felt like you have an innate knowledge of something – a natural grasp of something that you just couldn’t explain? Maybe you seem to just know how someone is feeling without talking to them.  Or perhaps you can locate hidden objects with ease, or sense the presence of other beings.

There are a variety of psychic powers that depend on the innate spiritual power of a human being, and all of them can be harnessed and wielded by their owners – if the owners are aware of them, of course! But what is the origin of these powers?

The Power Within

The origin of psychic powers in a human being rests in one mysterious yet powerful concept.

The human soul.

Humans are spiritual beings. We possess great amounts of spiritual energy within our bodies and souls, the energy that forms a common bond between all living things.  Our souls are the centers of our presence here in the universe, and it is the soul that gives us our psychic potential.

Of course, taking advantage of psychic potential means you have to first acknowledge it.  But, you also have to put yourself in the right mindset so you can achieve the power within you.

The first step is to be positive. Positive attracts positive; if you want positive results, you have to have the right attitude.  You will never achieve your full potential – psychic or otherwise – if you are not positive.

The next step is to relax and focus on who you are.  Focus on what makes you, you.  Try to eliminate stress in your life as much as possible.  Stress interferes with psychic channeling and denies you the ability to use your gift.

The more you focus on your abilities and pay attention to yourself and your soul, the more likely you are to identify your innate talent and learn how to start using it.

Throughout the process, though, remember that you, as a child of the universe, are a spiritual being and have spiritual capabilities within you.  Hold on to that thought.  Take hold of your capacity and capability, and focus on the positive.  You have psychic powers; now you just learn how to use them!

Bartow’s Historical Museum Enjoys Spirited Reputation

BARTOW — Not too long after she began working at the Polk County Historical Museum, Robin Golden started receiving reports that she had left lights burning in the building overnight.

Knowing she had turned out the lights before she left each day, Golden could think of only one explanation for custodians finding the rooms brightly lit — the resident ghosts were playing games with her.

“In this room the lights kept coming on,” Golden said, motioning toward the museum’s video room. “I finally said, `You all have to stop doing this or you will get me in trouble.’ “

The lights have remained off all night ever since.

These types of experiences were happening in the museum and historical library long before Golden was hired as the museum assistant — incidents that tend to gain prominence around Halloween.

Built during late 1908 and 1909, the domed brick-and-limestone building at Main Street and Broadway Avenue once housed the Polk County Courthouse.

“This has always been a violent place. Violence was on trial,” said Library Manager Joe Spann. “If there would be a focus or nexus for that type of thing, it would be here.”

But during his 20-plus years with the historical library, Spann has always felt safe.

“I’ve been here for hours and hours, and I’ve never felt threatened,” Spann said.

That’s not to say he hasn’t experienced some strange situations.

Approximately 10 years ago, Spann was working alone in his office a couple of hours after the library and museum closed.

“I heard someone walking down the second floor library,” he said, leaning forward in his chair. “I know as sure as I’m sitting here that there was someone in the hallway.”

But no one was. At least no one living.

According to Tampa-based clairvoyant the Rev. Janet Reynolds, who recently visited the old courthouse, Spann could have heard any of 12 different spirits that are in residence.

“I feel some of them are there because they are restless,” she said. “Some of them are there because they want to be there.”

In a building that has been the scene for a lynching, a fatal explosion in the boiler room, viewing area of the body of a slain marshal, and nearly a century of death sentences, there are plenty of stories that conjure the idea of ghosts.

In 1955, Judge Curtis Chillingworth and his wife, Mary, disappeared from their beach house in South Florida. Though their bodies were never found, eventually it was discovered that Judge Joseph Peel Jr. had the couple killed.

The Chillingworths were taken out in the Atlantic Ocean, locked in chains, tied to weights and thrown overboard.

Peel’s murder trial was moved to Bartow because of the notoriety of the case in South Florida.

Library and museum employees wonder if the Chillingworths’ spirits are responsible for a couple of unexplained happenings.

“Patrons have heard footsteps behind them and we think it has been Judge Chillingworth,” Golden said.

Patrons, people setting up museum displays, and custodians have also heard these footsteps.

And the judge may be responsible for the malfunction of locks in the building.

“We think the problem we have with locks has to do with the judge,” Spann said. “Some of them don’t operate or operate backwards.

“We keep his picture on the wall upstairs. We want him to know that we recognize he is here,” Spann said.

Golden said other suspicious incidents inside the old courthouse building include the presence of “The Lady in White,” who appears as a human; elevators running without reason; screaming coming from the boiler room; visitors feeling something touching their hair and neck; and cold spots in various rooms.

The areas where Reynolds felt the most foreboding presence were the rotunda, video room and the boiler room.

The rotunda was where the slain marshal laid in state, Golden said.

Reynolds also felt some good vibes.

“The one room I felt good in was an old court room,” Reynolds said. “There was a lot of humor there.”

Like Spann and Golden, Reynolds isn’t afraid to be in the building, even in those areas where she has had negative reactions.

“I didn’t feel any fear. I only felt what happened,” she said.

Golden takes the seemingly paranormal activity in stride and attributes it to the historic atmosphere in the building.

“When you think about what went on in here and how many lives were changed, you can see how they might be trapped spirits,” Golden said. “I believe in angels, so why not believe in spirits?”

How Insight from a Medium Can Clear Up a Situation in Your Work World

If you have a problem with your work environment – say, with a co-worker, a boss, or perhaps a difficult project – you are not alone.  People experience problems on a daily basis at work, ranging from simple matters to complex situations involving people that can be incredibly stressful.  This stress is harmful to your health, which means resolving these situations is a priority.  A medium can actually help you clear up such a situation in your work world through careful insight.

A medium is a person with special spiritual gifts of communication and connection with the spiritual world, a connection that gives the medium special insight into what most other people do not see or detect or understand.  This insight can range from relatively-simple visions to more complicated communications with spirits in another plane of existence.  In all cases, the medium’s talent of communication and channeling can help you with problems you have at work.

Imagine that you have a problem with a co-worker.  There may be a misunderstanding between you two – or he or she may be purposely interfering with you and causing this strife.  By visiting a medium, you can discover the truth of the situation and gain valuable insight into what is occurring to cause this disruption in your life.  If there’s a misunderstanding, for example, a medium could reveal to you the nature of this misunderstanding.  It is likely that neither you nor your co-worker were aware of the true nature of the misunderstanding.

With the insight provided by a medium, you can clear up troublesome situations in your work world and make your work environment a place of peace and harmony.  This alone makes a trip to see a medium about your work situation worthwhile.

How to Make Dreams a Reality

Humans are dreamers.  You, I, and everyone else on this planet all have dreams – visions of what we would like to happen.  People we would like to meet; places we would like to go; achievements we would like to accomplish.

Dreams are what drive humans to do the things we do; to build, craft, and create.

You undoubtedly have dreams of your own, but you also probably know that simply having dreams is not the same as achieving them.  We all have dreams, but how many of us actually see them come to fruition?

Not many, which is why humanity is constantly searching for a way to make dreams come to life.

Believe it or not, each person has the potential to manifest his or her dreams in the real world – to convert them from imagination and thoughts and products of the mind to products of reality.  And believe it or not, the secret is not overly complex, or even excessively difficult.

All you need to do, first and foremost, is learn how to harness the power of psychic energy and use natural cosmic power for your own needs.  Here is how you can do exactly that.

The Law of Attraction

You may have heard people discuss this concept on television lately.  It has become quite popular over the past few years, but the Law of Attraction is anything but a faddish creation, something dreamed up by people who want to sell a few books and get famous.  No, the Law of Attraction is something else entirely: a cosmic force that occurs naturally in the universe.

Taking advantage of the Law of Attraction is the secret to making your dreams a reality.

The Law, simply put, states that good things happen to people who desire them. In other words, by using positive psychic energy and sending it out into the universe, you will naturally ‘attract’ that which you desire.  Positive psychic energy creates positive occurrences, which in turn creates the benefits you crave.

But how do you take advantage of this phenomenon?

Using the Law

The trick to using the law is less of a trick and more of a way of life.

If you have a dream (and chances are, you do!), focus on your dream in a positive way.  Dwell on what it would mean, and what it would take.  Concentrate on the positive.  And imagine that you are sending positive psychic energy into the universe.

Then, start to know that what you dream about will actually come true.  Don’t just wish; know. Go about life with a positive attitude, and look constantly for the opportunities that your good energy will bring about.

The Law says that because you are constantly thinking about your dream – and constantly emitting positive psychic energy – you are attracting the energy that will make your dreams come to you and happen in your life.

So, if you want your dreams to become reality – and that is definitely a possibility – then you need to heed the Law of Attraction.  Think positive – and let the power of the universe work for you.

How Dreams Can Solve Problems in Your World Today

One of the most mysterious concepts in human knowledge today is a dream.  We dream constantly.  Most people dream on a regular basis, and these dreams range from the normal and mundane to the complex, frightening, and bizarre.  Dreams can inspire us and make us wake up happy – or scare us and make us wake up confused.  Many people think that in spite of this, dreams are largely useless when it comes to the real world.  Contrary to this belief, though, dreams can be useful and can even solve problems you may face.

Dreams are mysterious because while we vaguely understand how they are generated by the brain, we don’t fully understand what meaning they have.  But, research shows that people who pay attention to their dreams can possibly uncover practical meanings for what occurs in their mind when they sleep.  This is because the unconscious part of the mind is still active.  In fact, there is never a time in which the brain is not active.  Therefore, the brain is still working, which means that it is still dealing with problems and difficulties.

That is just the biological aspect of dreaming, too.  Dreaming also has spiritual applications.  Your mind is a portal of sorts, allowing you to experience not only the conscious world, but the unconscious world.  Dreams can be a way that your brain informs you of what it is aware of in both worlds, which explains why some of them may seem bizarre and confusing at first.  But, the answers to your problems may be there, just under the surface.

The next time you have a problem and can’t figure out a solution, focus on it before you sleep.  The mysterious forces at work in your subconscious and unconscious states frequently will ruminate on your problem – meaning that you will wake up with a solution that seems inspired.

So, the next time you have a problem, sleep on it – and dream.

How Meditation Plays a Big Part in Being a Medium

A medium – a person connected intimately to the spiritual world who communicates with spirits in the beyond – has at his or her disposal a wide variety of skills and techniques that can be described as nothing short of amazing.  All of these skills depend heavily on the ability of the medium to focus, concentrate, and channel the spiritual energies that surround the medium and harness them for communication.  One of the ways a medium accomplishes this mindset – and a very important tool for a medium – is meditation.

What is meditation? Many people, if asked, would say they know what meditation is – and would describe it as something you have to do while sitting in an awkward yoga pose.  Meditation, at its core, is something simpler than that.  All meditation is, after all, is focusing deeply and intently on clearing your mind and putting it at ease.  Some people, when they meditate, clear their minds completely and do not think about anything.  Others focus on one thought or topic.  Both ways train the mind to reach a heightened state of focus so that it can then do something incredible: talk to the dead.

A medium, as mentioned, specializes in communicating with spirits.  This requires an enormous amount of concentration on and connection with the spiritual world.  Without this connection, a link with the spirits cannot be made. Therefore, meditation plays a major role in what a medium does.  Without regular, intensive meditation, a medium will not possess the ability to focus on communicating with a spirit and relaying messages from the other side.

In summary, meditation is a tool that is used by mediums to hone their mind and sharpen their focus, so that they can more effectively bridge the gap between this world and the next and communicate.

Lucid Dreams

Dreams are incredibly intriguing and can provide insight into our conscious and unconscious thoughts, fears, feelings, and beliefs. Almost everyone can recall specific dreams that have occurred sometime in life. Sometimes we may wake up and remember a weird dream we had the night before. Other times we may not remember a single dream we had that night. However, there are times in which we are aware that we are dreaming while the dreams are occurring; these are known as lucid dreams. Anyone can have a lucid dream; however, they tend to be most common in children than in adults.

History of Lucid Dreams

Lucid dreams have been a topic of discussion over the last few decades. However, it is far from a new phenomenon. As early as 415 AD, St. Augustine wrote a letter that alluded to lucid dreams. Despite the presence of these dreams in our lives, it was not until Frederik van Eeden, a Dutch psychiatrist, coined the term “lucid dreams” that we had a name for these conscious dreams. Since this time, a surplus of research and scientific experiments has been conducted to learn more about these intriguing dreams.

Entering Lucid Dreams

There are two ways to enter into a lucid dream: dream-initiated and wake-initiated. In dream-initiated lucid dreams, a person begins dreaming and in the middle of the dream he or she becomes conscious that they are dreaming. On the other hand, a wake-initiated lucid dream refers to when a person goes from being awake to dreaming without ever leaving consciousness. The following example provides clarification of the difference between these two types of dreams:

You go to sleep and in the middle of the night, you start dreaming about searching for your car keys throughout your house. In the middle of your dream, you realize that it is all a dream and that you are not actually frantically searching for your keys. This is an example of a dream-initiated lucid dream.

Now, imagine lying down in bed to go to sleep and before you become unconscious, you start dreaming. You are frantically searching for your keys and you are aware that you are merely dreaming; however, there was not a time in which you went from a waking state to an unconscious state before you started dreaming. This is an example of a wake-initiated dream.

Although lucid dreams tend to occur without any thought or planning, there are proven ways to intentionally initiate these dreams with the help of dream specialists. In conclusion, lucid dreams are dreams in which we are conscious while dreaming and can provide an incredible amount of insight into your everyday life.

Nightmares

We like to think that when we sleep, we will rest in peaceful slumber and enjoy dreams. This does not always happen, though.  Sometimes, the types of dreams we have are not peaceful, but disturbing. When fear and terror enter our dreams and invade our minds, they are called nightmares – and nightmares can be very unsettling.  Like other dreams, though, they can also provide insight into our lives, including our emotions, feelings, and hidden desires and concerns.

Why Nightmares Happen

What, exactly, is a nightmare? We all know what it is in general, but why do they happen? A nightmare is usually described as a bad dream that invokes powerful feelings of fear, or other negative emotions. These dreams can also involve physical reactions, including increased heart rates, sweating, shaking, and even screaming and crying.

Nightmares frequently happen because of what we experience in our conscious lives. Our fears and concerns and insecurities about certain situations do not leave us when we sleep; instead, they remain in our minds and spirits and manifest themselves in our dreams, turning them into nightmares.  Frequently, the amount of fear we experience during the day will have an impact on how frequent nightmares can be for us.

How Nightmares Affect You

Nightmares can be deeply unsettling, to say the least.  Sometimes, the intensity is relatively mild.  We may sleep through them, and vaguely remember the images and sensations when we wake up, but they do not really bother us.  Sometimes, though, they can be incredibly intense and leave us shaken and disturbed for hours, even days or weeks (especially if the nightmares are also recurring dreams).

Having nightmares can also increase the amount of stress you have in your mind and body, which leads to other complications in your life.  Having stress and fear in our lives is disruptive and interferes with everyday living, which is the main affect nightmares have.

What Nightmares Mean

While nightmares are scary and disturbing, they can also provide insight into our lives. Pay attention to the next nightmare you have. Try to remember the emotions you felt, and the images and sensations going through your mind. You can use these feelings and thoughts and “dream memories” to uncover fears, doubts, worries, and uncertainties in your life – even some you may not even be aware of!

Nightmares can be powerful indicators of issues and emotions that are not resolved in your life.  Generally speaking, we don’t have nightmares about issues that are completely resolved and handled. On the contrary, the ones that disturb our souls the most are the ones that are not reconciled, which come up in our nightmares.

As frightening as they may be, nightmares can also guide us to understanding more about what is going on in our lives.
