Queentown Apts (I just knew)

I am on my way to the shopping center in Queenstown. I am twelve years old and in no great hurry to get there. The little town where I live is called Brentwood, in Hyattsville County, Maryland. It’s a small community of hard-working middle class people who maintain their homes and live quietly. I live with my aunt – my late mother’s sister – who finally married and now has a Read More

New Year’s Eve in Venice – 2002

I spent Christmas in Rome the year 2001 to bring in 2002 with my daughter and her was then fiancée. It was a terrific time for me it really was. We went to Venice two days before New Year’s Day. It is a beautiful, old, dirty city. Yes, it was dirty, but you either love it or dislike it. I loved it. It is old and full of stories. Love stories. Well on New Year’s Day we strolled around took naps and enjoyed. When it was time we Read More

I was happily listening to an audio tape while driving to work recently when suddenly I heard an unexpected “pop.” I must have driven over something, as it made a loud noise. I turned the audio down to listen for any other indication of trouble. A truck was passing by, so I figured that was where the noise had come from. But as the truck passed, the noise remained and it was then I realized Read More

Sermon – Friends

I am a Certified Spirit Medium and ordained minister with a private practice in Tampa, Florida. I was ordained as a minister through Harmony Church in Tampa and currently serves at People’s Spiritualist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. I am publishing many of my sermons online as they may both benefit you, and illustrate additional spiritual services that I can provide to you at weddings or other gatherings.

To start I would like to read you a scripture from 2 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 11. Finally, brothers, rejoice – mind your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

I feel this verse say a lot about how to live, respect, and care about people. You know there is an old saying, “ you can’t live with them, but you can’t live without them. I think this statement is in reference to men, but lets use it for people. People are our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, children, co-workers, associates, and close friends. All of us are made in the image and likeness of God. We are God the “I AM” says that. We have a Soul, a spirit, and a heart that is full of love, kindness, and emotions.

I have a lot of people around me all of the time. A few years ago I had an unusually hard time. Although of late it seems to me every year is challenging, but this particular year I had a lot of changes in my business world and in my personal. The aunt, who raised me crossed over to the other side, my sons went back to our hometown, and my daughter left for Europe. Her leaving was the hardest adjustment for me. I was on an emotional roller coaster ride all that year. If it had not been for close friends and family or just people in general I don’t know what I would have done. I can go to so many instances.

Close Friends: someone you can call at 6:30 in the morning to come over and have coffee while you bleed your heart out. Someone who house sits while you are away. Someone, who fixes you dinner when you are tired and dragging from a hard day. So many good things, so much to be grateful for. I could go on and on.

Co-workers: Those who help you to get through the day when work is heavy and dead lines have to be met. Those that hand you a cup of coffee when they see you walking in the office door dead tired from the day before.

Acquaintances: People you don’t know a lot about but give you a smile and a friendly hello to help keep you moving through out the day.

Family: They hold you close and put you first when thing’s are happening that you have no control over. My family and I drew very close on the transition of my aunt to the other side. She was the only Mother that I knew. She instilled a lot of strong qualities within me that I am to this day very grateful for. There were a lot of times when I would talk to her about my psychic or spiritual learning. She would listen and then I would hear her say ‘whatever Janet’. She didn’t believe or disbelieve. I know now that she is up there watching me and probably still saying ‘whatever Janet’

With this in mind I would like to read one more scripture to you from Galatians chapter 5:verses 22-26. ‘In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, and faithfulness. Gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law’. ‘Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. ‘If we live in the spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. ‘Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.

All God wants us to do is be happy, and love one another. We are a free Spirit with the ability to choose for ourselves. Life can be very challenging. Look around you and see everyone as you see yourself. Think about all the good that is in your life. See people with patience, and kindness. Know that everyone is here for a purpose. Try to understand that the experiences we have with people are needed for growth, and its how you handle it that makes it what it is. Remember if we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit, and know that God loves us no matter what.
